Use pH Neutral Cleaners

Firstly, when cleaning stone surfaces, always use pH neutral cleaners! When a cleaner says that it's pH neutral, it ensures that it does not contain any hazardous or abrasive chemicals that cause common issues such as making the surface dull or etching the stone. As shown on the photo to the right,  pH neutral cleaners are a 7 on a scale of 0-14.  

If a product is considered neutral, it is neither high in acidic or alkaline value.  If a cleaner is neutral on the pH scale, it has met the bare minimum requirement of being an acceptable cleaner for all natural stones including  granite and quartz countertops. Certain glass cleaners and dish soaps are neutral, however, dish soaps always require a rinse, will leave a filmy residue ( very noticeable on polished black granite colors) and do nothing to protect against soap scum build-up, hard water spots and stains.

Conditioning Natural Stone
